Hindustan University sponsored the Nobel Forum (Best Chennai Engineering Colleges)

Hindustan University (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges) Sponsored the Nobel Forum, which is part of the 30th International Conference on the Physics of Semi Conductors (ICPS - 2010), that was held from July 25th - 30th, 2010, COEX, Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Pro Chancellor, Hindustan University (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges), attended the event and honored the Nobel Prize Winners.

National Franchisee Training Programme conducted by EEE Department - Hindustan University, Best Chennai Engineering Colleges

Chennai Engineering Colleges have always been at their best when it comes to extra-curricular activities. They have exhibited enormous interest in equipping the students with leadership qualities. Hindustan University, one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges is no less in organizing such programmes.

“National Franchisee Training Programme” was conducted for final year EEE students from 24.02.2011 to 26.02.2011 at Hindustan University (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges).

Er. Vathsala Gurumurthy, Deputy General Manager, Staff Training College, TNEB, Chennai, was the Chief Guest and she inaugurated the Training Programme. This programme was funded by the Government of India and conducted by TANGEDCO (Subsidiary of TNEB Ltd.) in collaboration with Rural Electrification Corporation. Training kits and certificates were distributed to the students. A substation visit for the students was also arranged by Hindustan University (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges) as part of the programme.

The following resource persons delivered lectures to the students of EEE Department, Hindustan University (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges) on various topics related to Power Systems.

  • Er. Vathsala Gurumurthy, Deputy General Manager, Staff Training College, TNEB, Chennai, delivered a lecture on “Present Power Scenario”.
  • Er. B. Srinivasan, Senior Manager/Technical Training Institute, Chennai gave a lecture on “Generation & Transmission”.
  • Er. Venkatesan, Executive Engineer, Substation, IT Corridor, Chennai also delivered a lecture titled, “Distribution of Electric Power”. (Courtesy: Chennai Engineering Colleges)
  • Er. Veeramurthy, Assistant Executive Engineer, Sholinganallur Substation explained various equipments and operations in the substation during the substation visit.
  • Er. A. Narayanamurthy, Executive Engineer, Raiiv Gandhi Gram Vigyan Yojana, Chennai explained on “Franchisee Models”.

The industry does try to understand the supply – demand dynamics and the underlying challenges to help bridge the supply demand gap. DAY 5-10th February 2011

Chennai Engineering Colleges and especially KCG College of Technology has always been a chivalrous institution. This day saw two events. The first one was a greenathon. The basic motive of this event was to spread awareness. A handful of students went all over Rajiv Ghandi salai Encouraging people to use recycled paper bags instead of plastic bags. They went to restaurants and shops like The Shogun, Amaravathi restaurant, Nalas, SAS, Cafe Coffee Day, Dominoes and more. They got a huge and warm response from everyone.

Chennai Engineering Colleges, KCG College of Technology then organized few galloping events. The second was a treasure hunt. This was probably the most high octane event of the week. There were 85 energetic participants running throughout the campus breaking their heads with the riddles that were given to them. The event was so fast paced no one knew when it started and when it got over. The event was very close. The difference between the first six teams was less than thirty seconds. On the whole it was a tiring and fulfilling day.

DAY 6-11th February 2011

On the 11th we had the valedictory ceremony. The event was presided over by Mr. N Harihara Subramaiyan Managing Director and CEO Mayura's Automation & Robotics (P) Ltd, Dr T Rengaraja Principal KCG College of Technology and Dr. Sumathi Poobal Vice Principal KCG College of Technology (One of the Best Chennai Engineering Colleges).

The event started out with the welcome address which was delivered by the principal. Then the chief guest was introduced by the vice principal. This was followed by the keynote address delivered by Mr N Harihara Subramaniyan. He spoke about his journey of becoming an entrepreneur and the qualities required to become an entrepreneur. His talk was inspiring and has made a long lasting impact on all. This event by KCG College of Technology (One of the Best Chennai Engineering Colleges) inspired a lot of students.

The talk was followed by the video screening of cloud10s e week video. The video showcased all the events which happened throughout the week. Next was the distribution of prizes to the event winners and certificates to the start ups and the E Week organizers. KCG College of Technology (One of the Best Chennai Engineering Colleges) motivated students with a plethora of prizes. The vote of thanks was given by the e cell coordinator Dr. Namita Gopal. The event ended with the rendering of the national anthem.

DAY 3-8th February 2011

On the 8th we had a Free Medical camp in association with Chettinad Health City Kelambakkam. We aimed to serve 200 underprivileged women, children and elderly who don't have access to Basic Medical care. We had services like BMI, Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Dermatology, Dental, ENT, Physiotherapy, Electro Cardio Gram / Heart problems, General checkup and Surgical opinion. It was a grand success.

DAY 4-9th February 2011

Idea Blitz was a great success. It was basically an IDEA GENERATION event, where the participants need to sit in groups and come out with ideas to develop India. The problems our country is currently facing were thrown as topics to the participants. There were totally 9 topics with each group handling one topic. The topics were

  • Poverty

  • Water management

  • Brain drain

  • Inflation

  • Corruption

  • Illiteracy

  • Traffic management

  • Environmental awareness

  • Child labor & child abuse

The judges were entrepreneur Mr. Rahul Co founder and head of operations of twenty19.com and Ms. Anita Manuel Professor KCG College of technology.The winners were the corruption and the second place went to the illiteracy team.It was a very close competition. The winning team won by half a percent.

NEN's E-WEEK 2011 - Kctech College of Technology, One of the Best Chennai Engineering Colleges

Chennai Engineering Colleges have always been at its best when it comes to sports and other events that inculcate the spirit of leadership. For one week, lakhs of people across the country will come together to celebrate Entrepreneurship Week India. Designed to build public awareness and support for entrepreneurship, E Week India focuses public attention on today's biggest opportunities and encourages participants to reflect on their role as leaders and innovators. The campaign is led by the National Entrepreneurship Network and supported by the Wadhwani Foundation. This was held between the 5th and 12th of February. The theme for this year was Ideas For India.

KCG College of Technology (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges) and cloud10 (Entrepreneurship Cell) are also a part of this initiative organizing various on an off campus events.


DAY 1- 5th February 2011

Cloud10 along with NGO Deepam held an event at Olcott Memorial School, Besant Nagar Where volunteers from cloud10 and Deepam taught the Children Computer Science: Introduction to Internet and English language Grammar: Degrees of Comparisons. The Children also drew google doodles.

DAY 2-7th February 2011

The most expected E WEEK was officially launched at KCG College of Technology (one of the best Chennai Engineering Colleges) in the presence of Mr. Rajesh Kumar ,founder director at FACE and Mr. Manoharan ,Project consultant Opportunity towers , Mr. Dorai Thodla , CTO and Founder Imorph Inc., Mr Krishna founder sarukai, Principal , and Dr Rengaraja, Principal , KCG College of Technology .

National Service Scheme (NSS) in one of the best Engineering Colleges Chennai

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The NSS Unit was started in our college in the year 2004. Since then it has been a vibrant and active unit.National Service Scheme (NSS) of KC Tech has been rendering yeoman service to the society. NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our university education. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community. It is a student–centered program in which projects are implemented by the NSS volunteers in the community in close collaboration with the clientèle community and thereby it provides vast scope for the students’ interaction with the people.


While interacting with the community the students learn many things which they cannot learn from theory classes. The NSS scheme is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life . NSS volunteers are an asset to the society. Students through the NSS activities are engaged in actual work not only within the university campus but also their services extend to neighboring schools and colleges. The aim of NSS is to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour. The various programm conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society.

The following activities were conducted during the Academic year 2009-2010:

  • A Blood Donation Camp was organized jointly by Y'S Men club of Mylapore, KC Tech NSS unit & YRC Lions club of Bharath. Nearly 157 Units of blood were donated by our students on 11.03.2010. Each Blood Donor was given separate Lions Bank membership card.

  • A seminar on "Donate Eyes, Gift Sight" was organized by KC Tech NSS unit & YRC on 09.09.2009. About 80 Students participated in this Seminar.

  • "Tree Plantation" was organized by KC Tech NSS unit & YRC on 09.09.2009. NSS Volunteers planted the plants in our campus.

  • NSS Unit of KC Tech celebrated Independence Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events marked the occasion.

  • A 'Cancer Awareness and Hepatitis Camp' was organized by KC Tech NSS unit & YRC on 08.09.2009. About 80 students participated in this program.

"Tree Walk" Organized by School of Architecture, HITS



School of Architecture, HITS in collaboration with ‘Nizhal’, an NGO is organizing a ‘Tree Walk’ on 24th February 2011 at Children’s Park, Guindy.

About Nizhal:
Nizhal is a Chennai based NGO who work towards protecting trees in the city and creating awareness about the importance of trees in our live. They organize various activities like Tree Planting Initiative, Educational Programs and Tree Walks for schools and colleges.

Significance of Tree Walk:
A tree walk is a guided walk along a planned path in any botanically rich park/ garden/ campus (for eg. Children’s Park, Guindy, etc.) to observe and appreciate the local species of trees and understand their importance in nature.
