Inauguration of Basket Ball Court in HITS Campus



Inauguration of Air Jordan Basketball Court & Inauguration of the 20th Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Inter Collegiate Basketball Tournament by Mr. Troy Justice, Director, Operations NBA in India was held on 7th February 2011 at 3.30 pm at HITS, Bay Range Campus.

The KCG Memorial 20th Inter Collegiate Basketball Tournament kicked off at HITS Campus on 8th February 2011. Dr. K. C. G. VERGHESE Memorial 20th Inter Collegiate Basketball Tournament (Men & Women) & the 1st Inter Corporate Basketball Tournament (Men) was held at HITS, Padur Campus at the Air Jordan Basket Ball Court from 8th - 11th February 2011.

On the Inaugural Day HITS Team defeated Vivekanada College 50-13. In the Inter Corporate Competition Sutherland beat WIPRO 41-3.

In the finals held on 11th February 2011, Sathyabama University and SRM University won the men’s and women’s titles at the KCG Verghese Memorial Tournament.

Hindustan Made Its Presence Felt At AERO INDIA 2011



A Mammoth Aerospace Event and Air Show of the year in the Asian Continent took place at Yelahanka, Bangalore from 9th - 13th February 2011. It was a joint effort by the Government of India and various private companies involved in the Aerospace Market. As this venue turned out to be a place for International Aerospace Giants, several organizations and companies exhibited their products and services chiefly to market them.

A seven member team from the Hindustan University led by the Head of the School of Aeronautical Sciences, Prof. Asokan and Prof. Dalbir Singh and five 3rd year students namely Mr. Arvindachan, Mr. Baskar, Mr. Suseendar, Mr. Venoje, Mr. Vinoth D. represented the Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI) at the Air Show 2011. A stall was put up inside the Air Force Station which was the venue for the Air Show and the Business Exhibition.

It was mainly to create awareness about the salient features and the various courses offered by the HGI. Many alumni of HGI visited the stall and were excited exchanging nostalgic moments. The notable alumni who met the HGI Team at the Air Show were currently working with Airbus, Infosys, Boeing, Laversab and Genser Aerospace.

Prof. Asokan and Mr. Vinoth D, 3rd year student were interviewed by Mr. Sameer, the reporter of the Bangalore Mirror (Times VPL) at the Air Show. The interview was published in Bangalore Mirror on 11th February 2011. The article featured about the facilities available at the Hindustan Group of Institutions and the priced possessions of the Military Aircraft MIG 23 and Boeing 737 at the Hindustan University Campus and various aircraft present at the Orient Flight School, Pondicherry and Robinson R-22 Helicopter at the HIET Campus, Guindy.

Hindustan University Conducted a Symposium Named Symposium named ‘HARMONY - 2011’




The Department of S & H conducted a Symposium named ‘HARMONY - 2011’ for first the year students on 23rd February 2011.

The following events were conducted.

SCIENCE QUIZ:

* 3 Students Per Team
* Depending on the number of teams registered, a preliminary written round was
conducted before the final.

EXTEMPORE:

* The Event consisted of two rounds, Preliminary and Final.
* Preliminary : Ice Breaking Speech
* The Extempore
* Each speaker was given 2 minutes to speak.
* 2 minutes of preparation time was given to each speaker for both the rounds.
* The final round was held immediately after the completion of the preliminary round.
* The organizers reserved the right to make any changes as when required.
* On any issue, the decision of the Judges & Organizers was considered final and binding.
