Dr.K. Premraj Chief Mentor, Vasan Eye Care Director and Ms.Veena, Chief Optometrist, Vasan Eye Care. Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Vasan Eye Care hospitals to conduct Two Year Advanced Diploma course in Optometry.

Shin Ha-gyun, Director, International Relations, Kim-Chung, Dean, The Office of International Programs and Education, Um Ky-Hyun, Dean, College of Digital Image & Contents, Kang Tae-Won, Professor, Department of Physics, Choi Soon-Yeol, Vide President for Academic Affairs,Kim Jong-Wan, Professor, Department of Film & Digital Media and oh Young-Kyo, President, Dongguk University. MoU with Dongguk University, South Korea was signed on 11th December 2009. The main objective of entering this MoU is to have a larger academic co-operation between the Universities for Exchange of students and staff for Study and Research.

Hindustan University Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) With Various Foreign Governments & Organizations

The University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various foreign governments and organizations for training and technical collaboration and consultancy. Some of them are:

  • City University, UK, for training students and conducting Twinning programmes and PhD programmes.
  • Warwick Manufacturing Group, UK, to carry out joint research programmes, exchange programmes and PhD opportunities.

  • Dongguk University, South Korea, for training and conducting Twinning programmes.

  • Al-Jabal Al-Gharbi University, Libya

  • INS Rajali, Indian Navy, Govt. of India for training the students and exchange of information on need base.
  • Royal Government of Bhutan for training Government sponsored students from Bhutan.

  • Ministry of Defence, Government of Rwanda for training of Air Force personnel.

  • Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Rwanda, for staff and students exchange, joint collaborative projects, consultancy etc.
  • Orient Arabis Overseas, Oman.

  • Barry-Wehmiller International Resources Pvt. Ltd., HARE Information Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Sino-India higher education, Valeth High-Tech Composites Pvt. Ltd, Ramco Systems,

  • Confederation of Indian Industries, Infosys, Oracle, Cisco, SAP and KPMG in the last one year for conducting training programmes for students in emerging areas by industry experts.

    USAID Partners with the School of Architecture

    USAID Partners with the School of Architecture, HITS

    United States Academy International Development (USAID) from The American People India, Energy Conservation and Commercialization (ECO) - III Project has announced that ‘Hindustan Institute of Science and Technology’ has been selected as one of their partner Institute. The selection was done on the basis of the architectural curriculum survey done based on the reports furnished by the School of Architecture, HITS.

    About ECO – III Project

    Energy Conservation and Commercialization (ECO) Bilateral Project Agreement was signed between the Government of India and the United States in January 2000 with the objective to enhance Commercial Viability and Performance of Indian Energy Sector, and also promote Utilization of Clean and Energy - Efficient Technologies in the Sector. ECO-III Project started in November 2006 with a focus on improving Energy Efficiency (EE)

    Need for Quality Education with Value Systems by Hindustan University

    In her Presidential Address Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor stressed the importance of imbibing good values that is the outcome of true Education. She also mentioned in her speech that the Education Day was celebrated to mark the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Mr. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, First Education Minister of India, who has to his credit implementing innovative measures in the Field of Education. Mr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was involved in the creation of a National Education System with Free Basic Education and Modern Institutions of Higher Education. The Chancellor informed that the Institution Founder Dr. K. C. G. Verghese was an ordinary man who had a clear vision in mind; he built this institution and achieved success due to his perseverance and focus of his vision. Every student should emulate his vision and have positive attitude. She also stressed the need for love and affection for others, respect for the teachers and develop patriotism towards the Country.

    Dr. E. L. Venkatasamy, Dean, Administration, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. S. V. Chittibabu, highlighted his contribution to Quality Higher Education.

    The Chief Guest Dr. S. V. Chittibabu in his address praised the Institution for celebrating the Education Day. He was impressed with the conducive ambience of this reputed Institution and he appreciated the quality of education maintained right from its inception. He informed the student community that they are privileged to study in this Institution and he advised them to avail the infrastructure facilities provided in this prestigious University and develop their personality and stressed the need to concentrate on the Social, Ethical and Cultural Values. He praised the Vision of the Founder, Dr. K. C. G Verghese, ‘To Make Every Man a Success No Man a Failure”. He advised the students to develop harmonious relationship among Educational Society. He informed the students that unless and until they changed their attitude Culturally, Ethically and Intellectually, they will not be able to blossom as a true Professional. He concluded his address that the Education is the reservoir and fountain head to learn everyday new things and teach others to blossom the community as a whole.

    Mr. Ashok Verghese, Director, Hindustan University, presented a Memento to the Chief Guest, Dr. S. V. Chittibabu. Dr. Pon Ramalingam, Registrar, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme ended with a National Anthem.

    Need for Quality Education with Value Systems by Hindustan University

    Educational Day was celebrated by Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) on 11th November 2010, to commemorate the Birthday of Mr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, an Eminent Educationist, a Great Leader of India's Freedom Struggle and the First Union Minister of Education of Independent India. The aim of the celebration was to Emphasize the Awareness and Importance of Education to the Younger Generation so as to move the Nation Forward. Dr. S. V. Chittibabu, Former Vice-Chancellor of Annamalai and Madurai Kamaraj Universities was the Chief Guest during the occasion.

    The programme commenced with an Invocation by Rev. Sam Koshy, Student Chaplain He informed the Student Community to get rid of hatred towards others and have the right attitude and ambience in the society inculcating good habits.

    Dr. K. Sarukesi, Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the gathering and informed that quality should be improved in all the Institutions of Higher Education and he praised the Renowned Educationist Dr. S.     HITS Football Team in upbeat mood as their player gets the Best Camper Award


    The Second International Residential Football Camp in Chennai organized by PIFA (Premiership Indian Football Academy) was held at Nehru Stadium in Association with Premiere Indian Football Academy from 4th to 7th November, 2010. The camp was organized to spot out the Young Talents from India aged between 10-17 years. 35 players were selected for the camp. Five players from Hindustan University were privileged to clinch this golden opportunity.


    First year students of various departments namely, Mr. Sathish Kumar, (Electronic and Instrumentation), Mr. Soma Sundaran and Mr. Janakiraman (Mechanical), Mr. Kenzong Galay & Mr. Leckdon (Civil) participated in the camp. They were given Intensive Training Programme by two International Football Coaches from United European Football Association. Mr. Mathew Elder from Everton Football Club and Mr. Nicholas Jones from Manchester United Club imparted strength training and football skills to the campers. Our University student, Mr. Kenzang Galay was presented the ‘‘Best Camper Award”.

    Mechanical Sciences At The National Quiz Contest, achievement by students of Hindustan University

    Great Feat by students of the School of Mechanical Sciences, HITS at the National Quiz Contest – The winner takes it all - A trip to Switzerland, Geneva Motor Show 2010.

    About the Contest:
    The Mahindra Auto Quotient is a National Level Auto Quiz Contest that is conducted annually by Mahindra. It was held for the first time in 2009. Mahindra Auto Quotient 2010, witnessed the participation of students from reputed institution from various parts of our country. Business Schools also entered into the fray as well.

    Stages of the Contest:

    The contests were conducted at three levels namely City, Regional and National Levels.

    Level One: City Finals
    The City Rounds were held in 16 cities across India. The Chennai City Rounds were held on 13th September 2010, at SRM Eswari College, Ramapuram. Around 50 – 60 teams from various city colleges participated. The first round was a written preliminary round. At the end of the round the top four teams were selected for the on-stage City finals of the top four teams, two were from Hindustan and one each from IIT Madras and MIT. Hindustan University Team scored 1000 points and won the City finals. Our University also won the second place as well. As the winner of the City Level, we progressed to the Regional Finals, where we would be battling against four other teams from the South Zone.

    Level Two: Regional Finals
    The South Zone Finals was held on 29th October 2010 in Mumbai. This round was between five teams: Hindustan University Team from Chennai, last year winners MSRIT Bangalore, Government Engineering College, Trivandrum, PSG Tech from Coimbatore and a team from IIM Bangalore. This quiz was tougher than the previous rounds, and it went all the way down to a tie-breaker between Hindustan University Team and GEC Trivandrum. Finally, it was our team that emerged as the winners of the Regional Finals, we progressed to the National Finals. We also received a cheque of Rs. 30000 as well.

    Level Three: National Finals----Final Countdown

    The National Finals were held on 31st October in Mumbai. This was between the winners of each of the Regional Finals. The finalists were:

    Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai

    East Zone : Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi

    There were seven quiz rounds and it was a tough nut to crack. With initial hiccups, when our team couldn’t score a single point during the first two rounds, the team kept the spirit going though others had taken a good lead. Our University Team bounced back in the third round, and by the sixth round, we had 800 points. After the sixth round, two teams were eliminated. The seventh round was between Hindustan University and FMS Delhi. It was a rapid fire round, where one member from each team would face 10 questions in quick succession. Each question would add 100 points to our existing score. We managed to beat FMS in the final round, 1400 to 1000, to win the Auto Quotient 2010.

    Final Results:

    Hindustan University Team emerge winners of the Quiz Contest
    Hindustan University Team was declared the overall winners and made it to the top. The team gets a free trip to Geneva, Switzerland, for the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011. The proud students of Hindustan University who achieved this exemplary feat are Mr. K. J. Jaichandran B.E. Automobile III year and Mr. M. Vijayendran, B.E. Mechanical III year.

    The team who got the second prize gets a chance to make a trip to Dubai to experience the famous Dune Bashing, and the teams that got the third and fourth prize gets an opportunity to visit Jodhpur, to participate in the Mahindra Great Escape Rally.
