Silver Jubilee Endowment Lecture At Hindustan University - Part II

She stated that this Institution was founded in the year 1985 by the Late Founder Chairman, Dr. K. C. G. Verghese and the success of the Institution in the Field of Education and Research is attributed to his vision. She also proudly stated that the Institution has obtained prestigious Research Projects such as DST-TIFAC that is the brainchild of none other than that of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. She also accorded a warm welcome to Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Upasala University, Sweden and Dr. Tae Won Kong, Director of QSRC, Dongguk University, Korea the dignitaries who delivered lectures prior to the Inauguration of Clean Energy and Nano Convergence, CENCON Centre, a Research Facility at HITS. The unveiling of the plaque of the CENCON Centre, was done by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

Prof. Borje Johannson in his speech stated that materials are the Best Friend of Technology. He also spoke on Global Warming and Energy Crisis. He stressed the fact that the only promising solution to all the problems is to find resort in the field of Nano Technology that is the need of the hour of the present civilization. The CENCON Brochure was released by Prof. Borje Johansson and the first copy was received by Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese. A copy of Wheels & Wings, the Autobiography of the Late Dr. K. C. G. Verghese, Founder Chairman of Hindustan Group of Institutions was presented to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and other dignitaries. This was followed by the Silver Jubilee Endowment Lecture by the Chief Guest, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.



He commenced his speech showering praises to the Institution for completing 25 years in the Field of Education, he stated in a humorous manner that he is proud to realize that the Institution has orbited around the sun 25 times. He emphasized on the fact that to attain energy independence alternative source of energy should be tapped and the best source of energy is from the sun.



At the end of the lecture there was a very interesting interactive session by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and the students of Hindustan Group of Institutions. He got assurance from the students to strive and make our country economically developed nation and face challenges in life and achieve excellence with perseverance.

Dr. K. Sarukesi, Vice Chancellor, proposed the vote of thanks and he also assured Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam to fulfill his advice to work towards energy independence.

Silver Jubilee Endowment Lecture At Hindustan University

Draw Green Energy from Space and attain Energy Independence says Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

The Management, Staff and Students of Hindustan University had the privilege to meet His Excellency, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, when he visited the University Campus as the Chief Guest of the Programme, on 6th January 2011, to deliver the Silver Jubilee Endowment Lecture as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the University. Earlier during the day Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam planted a tree sapling near the School of Aeronautical Engineering within the University Campus. Dr. Borje Johannson, Professor, KTH, Stockholm, Sweden was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Pro Chancellor, Mr. Ashok Verghese, Dr. Aby Sam, Directors, HITS and other members of the Management were also present on the occasion.





The programme commenced with an invocation by the staff and students of the University. Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chancellor, Hindustan University in her Presidential Address stated that the entire fraternity of the University was privileged to witness the presence of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, popularly known as "Missile Man" she expressed her happiness that he was present when the Institution is celebrating its Silver Jubilee. She informed that Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's Book 'Wings of Fire' is prescribed as a text for the First Year Engineering Students.

Our Hindustan University has a tie up with Oracle University to conduct the Oracle WDP program in our Campus. The Oracle Program is the most successful value added Training Program in our Institution. Under this OCA Certification Training is conducted in our Campus.

Key features of Oracle Training in HITS:

  • Four batches of successful training were completed and fifth batch is in progress.
  • After the training, the students are encouraged to take up the Oracle Online Examination.
  • Online examinations are conducted in our campus. Every Semester one exam will be conducted.
  • A proctor from the Oracle University will come and conduct the examination.

The next of Oracle Training commences on 17.01.2011.

The last date for the registration is 05.01.2011.

Incredible medal haul by Karate Champs of HITS at Kalpakkam


The 10th All India Karate Championship was held at the NESCO, Indoor Auditorium, Department of Atomic Energy Township, Kalpakkam, from 7th - 10th January 2011. There were 500 participants from more than 15 States. The highlight of the Event was the presence of the Internationally Renowned Karate Grand Master, Mr. KEIJI TOMIYAMA, President, Kofukan International Karate School, England who distributed the prizes to the winners along with Mr. K. Ramamurthy, Outstanding Scientist, Station Director, MAPS, Kalpakkam and Mr. Karate R. Thiyagarajan, Ex Deputy Mayor, Chennai, President, All India Karate Do Federation and Vice President, Common Wealth Karate Games.



The Hindustan University students who emerged winners were:

Ms. Atulya Ashokan, III Year, School of Aeronautical Engineering, she secured Silver in Women's Individual Kata and Bronze in Women's Individual Kumite Event. She has done proud to the Institution by emerging as winner for the second time consecutively in the All India Karate Championship in Weight Category + 55Kgs.

Mr. R. Divagaran, I Year Automobile student secured Gold in Kata Event and Bronze in Kumite Event both in Junior Boys (16-18 years) Category.

Mr. Manoj Sekar, II Year, School of Mechanical Sciences, secured Silver in Kumite Event and Bronze in Junior Boys Kata Event both in the Junior Boys (16 - 18 years) Category.

The students were accompanied by their Karate Instructor and Lecturer, Hindustan University, Mr. E. Gnanasundaram, (National Champion and International Medal Winner in Common Wealth Karate and participant in Asian and World Karate Championship)

KC Tech, One of The Best Colleges in India


KCG College of Technology (KC Tech) was established in 1998 and is affiliated to the Anna University and also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India, New Delhi and Government of Tamil Nadu. International Aviation Day in Hindustan University


International Aviation Day was celebrated on 7th December 2010 by the School of Management Studies, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. The Principal and Dean Academic Dr. R. Devanathan addressed the gathering and spoke on the history of the Aviation Day. Mr. J. Bala Sekhar, Jt. General Manager, Airport Authority India, was the Chief Guest and he spoke on the innumerable prospects and opportunities available in the Aviation Sector. He quoted the motto of the Aviation Day 2010 “Safe, Secure and Sustainable Travel”. Mr. Ravichandran, Head, Reservation and Ticketing, Singapore Airlines, was the Guest of Honour. He spoke on the multi-dimensional aspects of Airline Operations. He advised the students to have a positive attitude and pursue their course confidently for they have a bright future in the Aviation Sector. Various competitions were held for the students. Prof. Raghavan Srinivasan, Head of the School of Management Studies also spoke on the occasion.

A Sizzling Clean And Clear Fresh Face Competiton Was Conducted in Hindustan University



Mr. Bhargav of Hindustan University declared winner of Fresh Face 2010.

The Grand Finale of the Clean & Clear Chennai Times Fresh Face 2010 was held at Chennai on 6th December 2010.

The Grand Finale began with a stunning Fashion Show choreographed by Mr. Sunil Menon. It was followed by a grand show by the contestants exhibiting their talents in front of a distinguished panel of judges that included Singer Krish, Actress Andrea, Designer Chaitanya Rao and Fashion Choreographer Sunil Menon.

The audience witnessed ghetto-style dances by various contestants in the boy’s category and Mr. Bhargav of Hindustan University mesmerized the audience with his performance.

The final results were announced and Mr. Bhargav, III year student of the School of Aeronautical Engineering, Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science was declared the winner of the Clean & Clear Chennai Times Fresh Face 2010. He adorned the winner's sash with pride and received the coveted prize from Mr. Karthi, the popular cine artiste.

Training Program at Germany Conducted by Hindustan University

A Golden opportunity for Hindustan University students to attend Training Program in Automotive Engineering at Germany.

Hindustan University students are invited to attend a Training Program on Selected Topics in Automotive Engineering (STiAE) from 22nd January to 9th February 2011. It will be conducted at Steinbeis Transfer Center for Automotive Engineering, Esslingen University, Germany. The programme is organized by Steinbeis Centre for Technology Transfer, India.

About the Programme:

The Steinbeis Transfer Center for Automotive Engineering, Esslingen has been offering Annual Summer Courses at Esslingen University since 2001. To date, more than 400 students have attended the courses.

The program encompasses variety of excursions (frequently to Bosch, Daimler, Eberspächer, Festo and Porsche). Apart from Interim Exams, Final Exams and a Graduation the program includes local sightseeing. Courses have been running since 2001 on Integrity of Car Structures, Feedback Controls, special topics related to Automotive Engineering and Mechanical Systems. In 2011 there will be a number of special topics from the Field of Automotive and Mechanics. All the seminars will be conducted in English.

Early Registration Discount of Rs. 5000/- on all registrations till 30th October 2011 and Rs. 2500 on all registrations till 15th November 2011.

Hindustan University Organized Mega Sports Event

HITS organized Mega Sports Event - South Zone Taekwondo Championship

Hindustan University and Sports Taekwondo Association of Tamil Nadu are jointly organized the South Zone Taekwondo Championship that was conducted from 27th to 29th of December, 2010. This Championship featured teams from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Andaman & Nicobar for the various category matches. More than thousand participants (Boys & Girls) took part in this Mega Event.

A Grand Christmas Celebration at Hindustan University, 2011- Part II


This Institution not only gives importance to the academics and the co-curricular activities, but also believes in instilling the virtues of life and religious and ethical values. It was followed by Bible Reading, the reading of the word of God was done by the students of the Hindustan University, K. C. Tech and HCAS. There was an excellent choir rendition of hymns by staff and students of HCAS, K. C. Tech, HITS, HIET and students of Hindustan Community College. The most important part of the event was The Christmas Message that was delivered by the Chief Guest Rt. Rev. Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos, Diocesan Bishop, Chennai, Bangalore Diocese. In his Christmas Message, he stated that God came down to the Earth in the form of Human Being and the Birth of Christ is celebrated as Christmas Day.


Any celebration connects to an event in history and Christmas is celebrated denoting the Birth of Christ. The celebration becomes meaningful when we understand life and feel the divine presence of God on Earth for the presence of Divine helps Human Beings to transform and bring newness to humanity and feel the rhythm of life with the divine intervention. Christmas signifies Christ coming down to Earth to save Humanity and Bring Light, Peace, Joy to the Earth. Everyone should have a motive to exist in a harmonious manner, remove hatred and develop good culture of life, understanding God. Mr. Jayabalan Vengadasan, Vice-President, Engineering Training, Singapore Airlines was also a Guest during the Celebration and he expressed his happiness to be a part of the celebration. He mentioned that he was astonished by the participation of the entire Hindustan Staff and Students and it appeared as a Family Occasion.


He also expressed that he was amazed by the performance of the students after his interaction with the students of Aeronautical Engineering. He also mentioned that he was proud to be associated with the Hindustan Group of Institutions. Mr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Director & CEO of HGI presented an Autobiography, "Wheels and Wings" of the Late Founder Chairman, Dr. K. C. G. Verghese to Mr. Jayabalan Vengadesan on the occasion.


There was a choreographic performance by HCAS students and an instrumental rendition by Dr. John Morais, Dean, MBA. Rev. Sam T. Koshy, Student Chaplain, HGI proposed the Vote of Thanks. He praised the students and staff who worked hard to decorate the stage and also for conducting the programme in a befitting manner. Dr. Aby Sam and Mr. Ashok Verghese, Directors, Ms. Annie Jacob Verghese, Director K. C. G. College of Technology and other members of the Management were also present.


The programme ended with the arrival of Santa Claus wishing Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. The Traditional Congregational Hymn , Silent Night was sung in unison by the entire Hindustan Fraternity marking the end of the Christmas Celebrations 2010.

A Grand Christmas Celebration at Hindustan University, 2011- Part I

Christmas Celebrations was held at Hindustan University on 15th December 2010. It was an eventful day as the entire Hindustan Group of Institutions celebrated in unison the joy of the Birth of Christ, by singing praises of the Lord. The rendition of carols by Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Family Gen - X accompanied by astounding orchestra performance on stage reflected their awesome spirits of unity and divine intervention, the kids reminded each one of us the famous saying that, No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it." H. E. Luccock.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer by Dr. Susan Marthandan, Director, Hindustan College of Arts and Science. It was followed by a congregational hymn, "O Come All Ye Faithful".

Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson, Hindustan Group of Institutions, in her welcome address mentioned that Christmas Celebration is an occasion to celebrate with joy and peace. It is an occasion where we witness the entire staff and students of Hindustan Group of Institutions. Through her message she touched the hearts of the audience when she stated that during this joyful moments we should also think about the people who are underprivileged and also who find difficult to survive due to poverty. Each one of us should give a helping hand for the upliftment of the poor and make a resolution to help the needy on this joyful occasion as we celebrate the Birth of Christ.
