Seminars & Symposiums

Each School of the University conducts an International Level Seminars and Symposiums every year. It gives an opportunity for our students to interact with other University students and share their views and technical knowledge. Students from all over India participate in Paper Presentation, Quiz, Software Contest, Tech Talk, Mathematical Quiz, Dumb Charades, Crossword, Mathematical Exhibits, Management Quiz, Creative Expression and ADZAP. The winners are given due recognition and awarded prizes for their talents exhibited. All the participants are honoured with free boarding and lodging provision in the campus itself. Over 91 National Level Seminars / Conferences / Symposia were organized by the institution in the last five years. Few of the current Seminars, Symposium, Guest Lectures and Events conducted in various schools are mentioned below:

School of Aeronautical Engineering

First International Seminar on Composites for Aerospace Applications was held in the University. Expert speakers from various parts of our country and also from countries such as France, USA, Canada and Switzerland participated.

Dr. R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest and Dr. C. G. Krishnadas Nair, President, Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI) & Former Chairman, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., was the Guest of Honour.

School of Architecture

The School of Architecture, conducted a workshop on AURA 2010, Staff and students from SRM University, Sathyabama University, and Bharat University had participated. Mr. Sabu Cyril, Renowned National Award winning Art Director was the Chief Guest.

A grant of Rs. 10 lakhs was sanctioned under MODROBS Scheme for the Modernization of Computer Lab from AICTE under the title “Modernized Nodal Centre for E-Learning, Testing and Research in Structural Engineering” to the Department of Civil Engineering

The School of Computing Sciences, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Padur conducted the First International Conference on GLOBAL COMPUTING and COMMUNICATIONS ICOGCAC 09.

A Workshop on “Free Open Sources Software (FOSS)" in Collaboration with M/s. LinuXpert System was conducted for the faculty of Computing Sciences

A Workshop on "E- Learning" was conducted for the faculties of Hindustan University

Dr. Phillip Butler (University of London) presented a Tele Lecture on E-Learning.

IEEE Education Society Chapter and IEEE Madras Section had a meeting with Dr. Rob Reilly, Secretary, IEEE-Education Society, USA and Dr. Oliver K. Ban, IBM, USA.

Dr. Rob Reilly, Secretary IEEE-ES, gave a lecture on "Can you win the Nobel Prize you certainly can". Dr. Oliver. K. Ban, IBM, USA, delivered a lecture on "EEE's Future a few thoughts from industry perspective".

A lecture on "Medical Imaging System and Applications" was presented by Dr. Kasi Rajgopal, Chairman IEEE India Council.
School of Electronics and Communication has conducted their Annual Symposium CHARGE '10.

Students of IV year presented a paper titled, "Alcohol Sensor Enabled Ignition Switch with Virtual Cabin" at "International Techno Management Fest" (PRAGYAN 2009) and won the 3rd prize.

"CYNOSURE'09" the 8th National Level Technical Symposium (2009) was conducted by the School of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

Robokriti a two day National Level Workshop on Robotics was held at University.

School of Humanities

Faculty Development Programme for the newly inducted faculty on “Soft Skills and Class Room Dynamics” is conducted regularly by the department faculty.

Orientation and the induction Programmes for the newly inducted staff members of the University are organized every year. National Service Day Programmes and Women’s Day Celebrations are organized by the department and it comprises guest lectures and competitions for the staffs and the students of University

School of Mechanical Sciences

SAE India Collegiate Club and the School of Mechanical Sciences, Hindustan University conducts an Auto Show every year. A Spectacular display of various car and bike models is the highlight of the show. VAHANA 2010, Seventh National Technical Symposium was also held and the department magazine “Spark” was released.

Technical Symposium Yantra ’10 was conducted by the Mechanical Engineering Department and their magazine, YANTRA was released.

BAJA 2010: The Team STALWATZ comprising students of Automobile and Mechanical Departments of Hindustan University participated for the third time in JKTyre BAYA SAE India.

A competition organized by SAE India ( Society of Automobile Engineers ) at the NTRAX facility of NATRIP in Pithampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh in the last week of January. The Students of Hindustan University successfully completed the 3 hour endurance run after cleaning various static and dynamic tests for the first time.

School of Management Studies

Department of the Management Studies (Aviation) celebrated its maiden H’AVION 2009. Inter Departmental Fest, on 7th December 2009. Mr. K. Natarajan, Director, Chennai Airport, was the Chief Guest and Mr. Bala Sekar (Deputy General Manager ) greeted the students on the occasion and said “Sky is the limit generally , but it is the beginning of Aviation” . Mr. T. E. Ramgopal (General Manager Operations & Airport) spoke on the Scope for Management in the Aviation Sector. He gave a brief history of the Chennai Airport and its operations, tracing it from 1932 till date and said their vision was to make it a “World Class Organization”

School of Physical Education

The University was abuzz with Sports activities throughout this academic year Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Tournaments 2009-2010 were conducted as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations.
